Professor Marianne Michaels擁有香港科技大學碩士;美國安柏瑞德航太大學學士。她也是香港科技大學,香港大學以及英國桑德蘭大學的教授講師。



她曾是全球跨國公司AECOM, URS Corporations, Fugro的顧問,為全球的國際團隊提供建議及培訓。



相關教育資格和經驗:

-曾任香港科技大學助理教授

-獲英國桑德蘭大學香港分校委任為碩士課程教授

-於香港大學專業進修學院擔任導師,監考以及研討會嘉賓

-曾在國際期刊撰寫會議論文和同行評審,得到廣泛肯定

The Aim

The goal in this course is to provide you with a better understanding of how we examine leadership in the social sciences. We will do this by exploring different definitions of leadership, examine the tools social scientists use to study leadership, and compare and contrast theories of leader qualities and the leadership processes.



Course Outlines

Leadership is a social influence relationship, interactive between two or more people dependent upon one another for the attainment of certain mutual goals, bound together within a group situation. Leadership is a dynamic and working relationship, built over time involving an exchange between leader and follower in which leadership is a resource embedded in the situation, providing direction for goal attainment. Social scientists examine how we can better understand leadership and we will do the same by discussing relevant topics.



The Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this unit a learner will be able to:

1 Compare and contrast a number of contemporary models of leadership and how they can be applied to various business situations

2 Develop a personal leadership model including values and behaviors

3 Judge current approaches to effective leadership, such as coaching, power and influence, leading change, and culture

4 Analyze personal leadership style and approach and create a development plan to improve leadership capability

5 Appraise a business challenge or opportunity and design a leadership approach to address the issue

6 Predict employee performance based on leadership techniques used in the workplace
